Animal Disaster Training: Assessing Disaster Preparedness and Perceptions of Responders

Extension has an important role in addressing animal issues communities. An evaluation of disaster preparedness and perceptions participants a large-animal emergency training course was conducted through precourse postcourse surveys, survey data from first responders were compared to those other participants. Few had personal plans that included animals. After taking the course, demonstrated greater appreciation for collaborating agencies better recognition importance handling, behavior, aid/triage. Overall, identified equipment safety protective as most topics which is needed. Implications management education programs exist.
